Our sustainability strategy provides a clear framework for this aim.

Our approach to corporate social responsibility

Jan de Rijk Logistics is constantly expanding his network of operations and our reputation on providing services is of the highest importance. The relationships we have with our customers, contractors and other business partners have made a big contribution to the growth of Jan de Rijk Logistics during the past and they are crucial to our future success as a Supplier of (inter)national transportation services.

The relationships with our customers, contractors and business partners must be built on a foundation of integrity and ethics. This corporate social responsibility report sets out Jan de Rijk Logistics’ values and commitment to doing business ethically, responsibly and in accordance with the applicable laws. We expect our business partners to share these values and uphold them when doing business with Jan de Rijk Logistics or acting on our behalf.

Our corporate social responsibility strategy applies to all our business partners and forms part of the Agreements with an Affiliate of Jan de Rijk Logistics. We take breaches of this corporate social responsibility strategy seriously and may decide to review our business relationship with our partners as a result.

Our mission

We work with the most efficient company owned fleet, modern IT systems, various transport modalities and storage facilities of the highest quality, and adjust the resources in such a way that the customers receive only the best and most flexible service.

Business ethics and anti-corruption

We integrate Corporate Social Responsibility in our business and operations. We are of the opinion that it is essential that all employees of Jan de Rijk Logistics share the same business ethical conduct regardless of local business cultures.

To ensure this, we have a Code of Conduct that gives both information and guidance to employees on ethical conduct towards customers, competitors and subcontractors.

We are constantly working on our Code of Conduct to raise the level of awareness of business ethics across the organization, our supplies and our subcontractors.

Quality of services

Jan de Rijk Logistics strives for the highest standards of services and is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, ISO / TS 16949, AEO and TAPA TSR certified. These certifications rely heavily on the quality of our people, equipment and processes.

Jan de Rijk Logistics provides a safe working environment for their employees which complies with international standards and applicable local health and safety regulations. In order to mitigate health and safety risks during working time Jan de Rijk Logistics will provide appropriate controls, safe work procedures and training for their employees.

Jan de Rijk Logistics ensures appropriate training is in place to allow all their employees and managers to gain an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of the subjects mentioned in this corporate social responsibility program.

Environment and climate

In accordance with the goals as laid down in our ISO 14001 policy document, Jan de Rijk Logistics strives to reduce energy, fuel and emissions to the atmosphere, ground and water.

Chemicals will be handled in a way that is safe for humans and environment. Jan de Rijk Logistics has its ADR certifications regarding the transportation of dangerous goods. Jan de Rijk Logistics identifies hazardous materials and ensures their safe handling, movement and storage, use, recycling and disposal.

It’s expected that Jan de Rijk Logistics uses natural resources as water and fuel in an economical way.
Jan de Rijk Logistics is committed to environmental practices which lead to a responsible supply chain; such as waste avoidance, recycling and energy conservation. Jan de Rijk Logistics supports a precautionary approach to environmental challenges. Negative impacts on the environment and climate will be minimized or eliminated as much as possible.

Responsible Supply Chain

We conduct intermodal transport as a main element to an overall CO2 reduction. We can create shared value by lowering the cost of transportation by intermodal transport, which leads to lower overall costs, fewer vehicle kilometers driven and lower fuel consumption and thereby a reduction in carbon emissions and carbon footprint.

Human rights

Jan de Rijk Logistics is committed to protect internationally accepted human rights. We strictly enforce the following conditions within our own organization and with our partners:

  • Prohibition of child labour
    We don’t use child labour. We don’t employ any person under the age of 15 or below the legal minimum age, if higher.
  • Prohibition of forced labour
    We don’t use forced or compulsory labour in any form.
  • Principle of non-discrimination
    We reject any discrimination based on age, gender, race, ethnic or social background, national origin, religion or belief, disability, gender reassignment, union activity, political affiliation or any other personal characteristic or other status protected by law.

Our business partners ensure not to use or facilitate any forced or compulsory labour. We expect our Business Partners doing business in accordance with the ILO Convention C29 regarding forced labour and the ILO Convention C105 regarding Abolition of forced labour.

Furthermore, Jan de Rijk Logistics requires its business partners to abstain from the use of child labour. We expect our Business Partners doing business in accordance with the ILO Convention C138 regarding minimum age and the ILO Convention C182 regarding the forms of child labour.

We respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. Furthermore, we provide compensation and benefits that are fair and comply with applicable laws.
