Job description
As Operations Manager Central Planning you are ultimately responsible for the quality and performance of the planning made by your team in Roosendaal, you will work within the International Transport business unit. You ensure the best possible use of the total fleet, which consist of more than 700 assets. You ensure that we provide an excellent service to our customers based on the agreed SLA’s and SOP’s.
In this role you directly manage a team of supervisors, the entire team consists of more than 20 transport planners. You are in daily contact with the Branch Managers of out other offices.
Quality
We attach great importance to the quality of our performance, which is why you are aware of the performance at any time of the day. You pay attention to, among other things, the loading meters, empty kilometers and the margins of certain lanes. Based on predefined KPI’s you assess whether there are deviations, if necessary you determine the necessary actions, set priorities and delegate these tasks t your team.
To increase quality, you analyze the lanes driven, possibly together with a Business Analyst. If necessary, you prepare proposals for improvement, which you present to the General Manager Excellence Logistics. You also make cost price calculations in collaboration with our financial department. You also play a role in drawing up the budget for the International Transport Business Unit.
Performance & Quality
You monitor the performance and quality of the operation on a daily basis, you do this in a specially developed system with associated dashboard (Qlik). You contribute to the (further) development of, among other things, the planning system by actively participating in project within the organization that are aimed at improving performance. You have many interfaces with IT and you enjoy working with digitalization.
Organization development
As a manager you are responsible for developing your team, in which you take an active role. This means, among other things, that you periodically speak to all your employees and focus on their own development, by means of your employee’s Personal Development Plan. You encourage your team to develop to a higher level.
We think it is important to work closely with schools, which is why we often work with interns, you will act as their internship supervisor.
Sparring partner
You are an important sparring partner for, among other things, the Director of International Transport, the Manager Customer Service and the General Manager Excellence Capacity. You have daily contact with the operations of the various branches with planning departments.
You are also an important sparring partner for our sales department in tender projects or in special developments for a specific department within the business unit.
You are P&L responsible, you provide unput to the International Transport Director for the preparation of the annual plan and budget.
It concerns a role on a tactical level. You manager the team of planners in Roosendaal, which consists of more than 20 (junior) planners. You report to the General Manager Excellence Logistics.
100 days
For this role we work with a 100 day plan, during the first period you will become acquainted with our basis processes and you will get to know your team and colleagues from other departments. After this you will further delve into our planning processes and learning from our organization and the associated locations.
Who are you?
You know better than anyone what is going on within Internation Transport and you can translate this well to your direct colleagues and manager due to your good communication skills.
As our Operations Manager Central Planning you meet the following profile:
- HBO working and thinking level;
- You have demonstrable experience in a similar role within the transport sector;
- You have good leadership qualities, which enable you to inspire and motivate your team;
- You are someone who constantly strives for improvement, for his you make improvement proposals and implement them within you own team;
- We don’t have to tell you anything about digitization, you are even the initiator in this area;
- You know how to set priorities and can set the necessary actions for this with your team or external parties;
- You have excellent communication skills of the Dutch an English language in word an writing.
